PHILOSOPHY

Pixán (piʃán) means “spirit” or “soul” in Maya. Before anything, we are all humans and that is the essence of my practice and work.

My philosophy is grounded in a whole-person and meaning-making approach in connection with the self, with others, the environment and the context. I believe that we all have the capacity to learn and evolve. While it is true that we cannot have it all in life, we can enjoy and do the best with what life provides us with.

I’d like to share some things that guide me in life:

Inner continuity

As we evolve, so do our stories. The process of self-awareness and self-discovery is continuously evolving. As change becomes a constant, inner work is required for the purpose of learning and balance. Reflection is a core tool to help us learn from the past and continue (re)defining our essence in life.

Interconnectedness shapes us

“I am because we are” from the Ubuntu philosophy describes how interconnectedness shapes us as it is part of who we are and what we will become. We learn through mirroring each other. With each new interaction, we create experiences that help us become a more defined and unique individual.

Emotions help us learn, grow and expand

Emotions provide us with insight and data on how we are experiencing the world. They give us a starting point to reflect on who we are, what we want and why we want it based on how we feel and perceive the world around us. We have the opportunity to learn about ourselves when given the right tools and information to grow and expand our understanding and impact others along the way.

There’s no such thing as a “quick fix”

We need to invest quality time to understand ourself, a situation, problem, challenge or opportunity along with its impact, parts and context. This applies not only to individuals but to teams and organizations as well. If we are open to learning and observing with different lenses, the system gives us viewpoints to craft solutions from new angles.
